during my short, what seemed to be long, employment at the portrait studio i have encountered odd but amusing people. an example: the most recent reason why i dislike most children and will probably never have my own.
this past sunday i was minding my own business, working my six hours. i had a total of three sittings and was pretty content on slacking the whole day. after my first two sittings i waited non patiently for the family of five to arrive. ten minutes passed from the appointment and i was convinced they were a "no show". obviously i was kidding myself and they strolled in half and hour late. "hi, we're here for the appointment, sorry! i know im late", yeah your fucking late. anyways, this lady had 4 kids, she looked around the age of 30, no significant other, and a definite hand full of children. so i proceeded with the portraits, you know basic single, generic school photos. i mean, obviously i expect a little praise from the kids, i am about a decade older then they are. this was not the case to eight year old "insert child's name here". she seemed like a pretty cute kid, until she unleashed her anger on the slacker walmart employee, aka...me. i guess she wasnt a fan of portraits. "dont fucking make me fucking take pictures! i hate pictures!!!", yes...that was the eight year old girl. it was so surreal, i think because the mother and the other 3 kids acted like this was "normal". she actually bolted out of the studio like there was a bomb or something. she wouldnt even set foot in the studio, its like she was mortified at the site of the sign that read "portrait studio", and after six months i defiantly am as well.
